Ads Air Starting Monday on CP24; Highlight Ontario Liberals’ Scandal-Plagued 15 years in Government
TORONTO, ON – Ontario Proud, one of the most popular and engaged Facebook pages in Canada, continues to expand its reach into traditional media on Monday as it airs its first television advertising ahead of the Ontario election scheduled for June 7.
The ads (one, two), airing on CP24, will run from April 9 to May 6 throughout the day. Airing the ads will be the first foray into traditional media for Ontario Proud, which began in February 2016 as a single Facebook page promoting Ontario culture and criticizing the negative impact of the policies of Premier Kathleen Wynne and her Ontario Liberal government on the province.
“Ontario Proud started as an online outlet for Ontarians who felt left behind by the Wynne Liberals. It’s now a massive force for change and we’re taking our online momentum to the TV airwaves,” notes Jeff Ballingall, a director of Ontario Proud. “Ontarians are sick and tired of a government that seems to exist solely to benefit Liberal insiders and donors while everyone else picks up the tab,” he continued.
As the provincial election draws near, Ontario Proud will also continue its radio and Facebook advertising and will imminently launch advertising on YouTube.
Ballingall notes that the two new TV ads will emphasize the Liberals’ scandal-plagued record, which is notable for tripling the debt, out-of-control spending, unfair hydro rates, job losses, and political corruption.
“For 15 years, Kathleen Wynne and the Liberals have run a government that’s wasted billions on unbuilt gas plants, ORNGE, E-health, and even a giant rubber duck, all the while enacting policies which benefit their insider friends. Ontario Proud is there to hold the Wynne Liberals to account because Ontarians can’t afford four more years of debt, deficits, and waste,” said Ballingall.
Ontario Proud is one of the most engaged and popular Facebook pages in Canada, with 95,000 email supporters and nearly 350,000 Facebook followers. The not-for-profit grassroots-supported organization, registered as a third party political advertiser with Elections Ontario, actively engages with Canadians on all social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter (@ontarioisproud), Instagram (@ontario_proud), and YouTube. It produces videos, opinion, and news commentary which promote Ontario culture, lower taxes, fair hydro rates, and government accountability, and reaches 5-15 million unique people online weekly
