Ontario Proud makes major impact during 2018 election

TORONTO, ON – Ontario Proud, the largest digital advocacy group in Ontario Politics, released metrics detailing its involvement in Ontario’s 2018 election earlier today.

Founded in 2016 by Jeff Ballingall, Ontario Proud has since grown to over 366,000 followers on Facebook, giving it a larger online presence than all of Ontario’s political parties and leaders combined.

“Thanks to the generosity of our over 1300 donors, we were able to run a campaign that drove the narrative of the election”, said Ballingall. “We delivered on our goal of defeating Kathleen Wynne’s Liberals and led the way in exposing the NDP’s extreme candidates and agenda.”

Ontario Proud’s reach over the course of the one month campaign is summarized below:

  • 63,644,903 Facebook impressions
  • 2,197,421 Twitter impressions
  • Over 9,400,000 video views on Facebook
  • Over 2,500,000 phone calls made
  • Over 1,000,000 text messages sent
  • 15,000 brochures distributed at transit stations

Ontario Proud was among the first groups to register as a third party under Ontario’s new election finance laws and complied with all related regulations, including restrictions on spending.

“We’re proud of what we achieved this campaign”, said Ballingall. “We’re going to continue fighting for responsible and affordable government and will make sure our politicians are held accountable.”

The team behind Ontario Proud intends to play just as big a role in Canada’s 2019 election.

“Justin Trudeau has failed Canadians,” said Ballingall. “We will do everything in our power to ensure he is a one term prime minister.”

Ontario Proud is one of the most engaged and popular Facebook pages in Canada, with 95,000 email supporters and over 366,000 Facebook followers.  The not-for-profit grassroots-supported organization, registered as a third party political advertiser with Elections Ontario, actively engages with Canadians on all social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter (@ontarioisproud), Instagram (@ontario_proud), and YouTube.  It produces videos, opinion, and news commentary which promote Ontario culture, lower taxes, fair hydro rates, and government accountability, and reaches 5-15 million unique people online weekly.
